For livestock farmers, IMV teamed up with Catalyse to develop a straw from thermochromic plastic, changing colour with temperature changes. Containing frozen semen, the straw can be thawed by soaking it in water at 37 degrees Centigrade. Blue while frozen, the straw will then change its colour to white. After defrosting the straw, it signals to the farmer the right temperature necessary to inject the semen into animals.
