With millions of people worldwide suffering from chronic kidney failure, TPV Compound’s solution for a peristaltic roller pump segment comes at the right time. It’s more dependable and durable – especially key for regular haemodialysis.
“The blood flow rate stability is improved up to 30%, using tubes manufactured with the compound,” says Gabriele Bagnoli, R&D Manager at TPV Compound.
The PVC compound was developed without using phthalates, and is free of latex, BPA and TSE, Gabriele says. “It works on the standard extrusion line for PVC, and TPV Compound set the right extrusion conditions to obtain the best mechanical performance.”
“Before we developed this compound, polymers different from PVC were used to make this equipment, because for dialysis of acute kidney failure, the performance requirements are especially demanding,” he says. “This new compound meets those requirements.”
What’s also important for use in the medical sector: the compound is suitable for gamma and beta rays as well as ETO sterilisation. It also maintains excellent solvent-based welding capabilities, the company says.
