A multi-company project to collect non-infectious PVC medical consumables from Belgian hospitals and recycle them into articles for hospitals, manufactured in Europe. Renewi implements optimal reverse logistics and supplies storage space. Raff Plastics dismantles any non-PVC parts and processes the waste. VinylPlus supplies the waste collection material and trains the healthcare personnel. A near-infrared (NIR) scanner was developed to allow the recycler to easily identify ortho-phthalate-containing elements and segregate them into another stream.
